Ms. Durena H. Marcum presented Sheriff T.C. Smalls with a Certificate of Appreciation to the HCSO as First Responders serving the community on behalf of the Order of the Eastern Stars, Evergreen AFM Masonic Lodge #153 in Hampton.

HCSO OFFICERS GRADUATE FROM THE SCCJA

Officers with the Hampton County Sheriff's Office graduated from the SC Criminal Justice Academy in Columbia today and are now Certified Class I Officers with the State of SC. Deputy Jasmine Butler is with the HCSO Victim Advocate Division and Deputy Howard Garner is with the HCSO School Resource Officers Division, respectively.

Several members of the HCSO attended the graduation ceremonies. Sheriff T.C. Smalls and staff congratulates you both on your accomplishment.

 

HAMPTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE PRESS RELEASE

DECEMBER 12, 2017

On 12/12/17, HCSO officers responded to a collision involving one vehicle on Savannah Hwy near the Coosawhatchie bridge in Hampton County. Officers were advised that the SCHP were notified. Upon arrival to the incident location, officers made contact with a subject standing outside the vehicle. Upon contact with the subject, the subject appeared to be intoxicated and stated to officers he was riding with someone.

Officers assisted the subject out of the roadway for his safety as well as travelers. After assisting the subject to safety and speaking with him officers observed what they believed to be an object in the subject’s jacket pocket consistent to having a weapon in the jacket pocket. Officers performed a terry frisk and found the subject to be carrying a Taurus Ultra-Lite .38 Special loaded with five rounds.

After detaining the subject and securing him in the patrol unit, his information was run through the Hampton County Dispatch Office and it was found that the subject had several warrants for his arrest by several agencies and that the weapon was stolen out of Jacksonville, Florida. The subject was transferred to the SCHP and later transported to the Hampton County Detention Center.

The subject, Donnevan Torell Sanders, 31, of Ruth St., Estill, SC was charged with Sale or Delivery of Pistol to, and Possession by, Certain Persons Unlawful; Stolen Pistol/Unlawful Carry of Pistol by the HCSO.

HAMPTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE AND THE U.S. MARSHAL'S OFFICE MAKE AN ARREST OF WANTED FAIRFAX MAN

During the early hours of Monday morning, Deputies with the Hampton County Sheriff's Office worked in conjunction with officers from the U.S. Marshals Office in the apprehension and arrest of one Ramonno Lenard Simmons, AKA “Rard”.

 

 

Simmons, 33, of Byrd St. in Fairfax, SC was wanted on an Arrest Warrant by the HCSO for Pointing and Presenting a Firearm at a person.

Sheriff T.C. Smalls commended all officers for a professional and swift operation, as no one was hurt and there was no threat to public safety.
