The Civil Process Division of the Hampton County Sheriff’s Department is a unique division in that the Sheriff is mandated by law to serve all civil papers received from any court of record. The service of Civil Process is one of the most important functions performed by the Sheriff’s Department and deputies assigned to serve civil process shall do so in accordance with South Carolina State Law and Departmental policy. In addition to courts of record, the Civil Process Division serves civil papers for all Hampton County Magistrates.

The Judgment section processes all “Executions Against Property” to fulfill the Sheriff’s statutory duty to collect on, and “Satisfy” all executions/judgments filed with his office in an expedient and professional manner. The Civil Process Division attempts to have no more than a ten-day turn around on service of all civil papers. Each section of Civil Process strives to successfully perform the tasks at hand in the most efficient and professional manner possible.
